4/27 - Enkhuizen to Lemmer - It was partly sunny/ partly cloudy and in the 40s all day.

We wore every layer of cycling clothes we had in order to keep warm.

Below, middle and right - Lots of sailboat masts in the harbor of Enkhuizen

The ferry ride was an 80 minute crossing of Lake Ijsslmeer.

The ride was smooth but they roped all the bikes to prevent them from falling

Below - Here we are on the ferry

Below, right - Lake Ijsselmeer is very large! It was created in 1932 when the Zuiderzee

was diked off. The water gradually transitioned from saltwater to freshwater.

Below, left - Judith and sheep friends - there was lots of

poop to dodge on this section of the path!

Below, middle - Curious sheep on top of the dike

Below, right - Lambs cuddling against mother to keep warm -

wish we could have had some of her wool to keep us warm!!

Below - Entering the town of Hindeloopen

Hindeloopen was as far north as we rode along Lake Ijsselmeer

before turning inland and south. It is a small fishing village.

Below - Today we rode through lots of farmland. This is a typical large farmhouse/barn.

The house and barn are connected but the tile roof color changes - house is black,

barn is orange. We were especially impressed by the skylights all across the peak of this barn.

Canal with lots of boats in Lemmer.
