5/10 Mon – Today, we visited the hilltowns of Panzano, Montefioralle, and Greve.

Greve  is the market town of the Chianti Classico wine zone of Tuscany, Italy

Montefioralle is on a hilltop above Greve with stone houses and paved streets.

Panzano is known for its churches and castle.

5/11 Tue – We started today’s hike in the town of Lamole.

It was fairly steep up Mont San Michele, but a good workout.

On the way down to Casole, the trail became a single track of thick mud.

It was tempting just to slide down to Casole, but we trudged through the mud.

We missed one of the trails, though, and ended up adding a little kilometerage.

Below - The first trail was very well-marked.

It absolutely poured all the way back to Lamole, but hey, we’re adventurous.
